Barley Close Foundation and Nursery Unit
 The purpose built Foundation Unit at Barley Close Community Primary School has been purpose built for the youngest members of our school community. There are two facilities for 3—4 year olds - Foundation 1 (Nursery) and Wrap Around Care (Nursery). Both these rooms offer a high quality care and the foundation stage curriculum —Early Learning Goals which is delivered through Stepping Stones. The Foundation 2 Class (Reception) is for our 4—5 year olds. The facility offers high quality provision including a secure out door play area for all the children.
The Foundation 2 room is for children of 4—5 years of age. Admissions are dealt with by South Gloucestershire and children must be 4 by 1st September of the academic year they are to start school to be in this class. This class offers a range of opportunities for children including utilising all aspects of the purpose built facility but also integrating with the older members of the school at lunch and for whole school assemblies.
 The Foundation 1 (Nursery) room offers sessions of 2 1/2 hours from 9:15—11:45. South Gloucestershire deal with the admissions to the Foundation 1 class. The sessions are free and children are able to attend for 5 sessions per week. There are some vacancies for the afternoon session. The Wrap Around Care (Nursery) room is run in a completely different way to the Foundation 1 room. Admissions are dealt with through the school and children can access this provision as soon as they are 3 years old ( at any time throughout the year). Parents can utilise Nursery Education Grant if it is not being used elsewhere. Once a child has been registered parents can book the sessions they require for their child through the Nursery Manager. Children are able to have lunch in the Wrap Around Care room - this can be a packed lunch or a school lunch cooked by our own kitchen staff. The Wrap Around Care is open all year round.
