December 2014: What a busy month!
The children did amazingly well in the Christmas Play, thank you for helping out with costumes, learning lines and of course for supporting your children in their production. I think everyone would agree that they were great!
We had a lovely class party and all the children enjoyed seeing Father Christmas, thank you for your kind donations of food.
I have sent out the December email updates of the children's learning diaries, please respond with your comments as these are always useful for us.
I wish you all a very happy and restful Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the new year,
lots of love
Thank you to all the parens who attended the maths workshop, I hope you found it useful.
I have attached the presentation from the maths workshop to the panda page for anyone who missed it or would like another look.
I can't believe we are into November already. I hope you all had a lovely half term and are all looking forward to Christmas.
The children had a really busy first term, and were all happy and eager to return on Monday, it was lovely to see their smiling faces again.
Last term we introduced our 'story of the week', looking at traditional tales. We are continuing this for a few more weeks, starting with 'The Three Little Pigs' and next week it is 'The Gingerbread Man'. Ask your children about the stories and the story maps they are making.
Tuesdays are now even more exciting in panda class, we have Forest School. This involves wearing full waterproof clothing and exploring the outside area, we have lots of fun. This week we talked about the rules of Forest school and made our fire circle. We will do Forest School every Tuesday, please make sure the children always have their wellie boots in school at all times.
I have now sent out two reports to all parents who have given me their email address. If you would like to recieve updates of your child's progress, please give me your email address and this can be set up straight away.
It is great to get your feedback, so please give your comments when you recieve the email updates.
Thank you to all the parents who are reading regularly with their children, we are getting some really competant readers now. Remember to put book bags in the green box if your child is ready for a new reading book.
We will continue to assess key words once a week (usually Thursday), the children need to read these tricky words, which they can't sound out (red words). It is a good idea to put the keyword sheet on the fridge, the children can have a quick look at the words several times a day.
