Term 4

Friday 5th April - End of term 4!

I can't quite believe we've reached the end of term 4 already - this year is whizzing by with all the amazing learning opportunities we're lucky enough to have; most recently our trip to Bristol Zoo, our experience in the Space Dome, cooking pancakes, egg nests and pizzas, to name but a few of the fun times we've had.

This term has been brilliant - the children have been really pushing themselves in their learning and producing some truly incredible work, and behaviour has been fantastic lately - Panthers really are a class that I am hugely proud of, and it's all down to the children's efforts. Well done Panthers and thank you for being such a lush bunch to teach! Particular congratulations goes to our Pupil of the Term - James - you absolute star!

I hope you all have a brilliant Easter holiday at home or away. We've decided to give the children a break from spellings over the holiday, but please do continue to read as often as possible together - one of life's most vital skills.

We'll see you back in school on Weds 24th April - we will be swimming that day!
PE will continue every Monday afternoon.

Reading books will now be changed on a Wednesday due to our timetable changes. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Have a fantastic break and we'll see you in a couple of weeks.

Friday 29th March

Miss Rowley and I would like to say a massive congratulations and well done to all Panthers for putting on an amazing class assembly on Friday afternoon. You all worked really hard in learning your lines and songs; I am extremely proud of you all. Thank you to all family members who came to watch, too.

English

This week we wrote a recount of our trip to Bristol Zoo, and practised using a dictionary. Next week we will be reading the Easter Story and writing letters to the Easter Bunny! We will also be making Easter Nests in our new cooking room, following instructions and recipes.

Maths

In Maths we have had more Marvellous Mathematicians as we reviewed place value and solved problems involving multiplication and division. Next week we will review Fractions, making our own pizzas and dividing the toppings into halves and quarters.

Reading Challenge - 68%

15 Panthers have read at least 3 times this week. Remember, if we can get 100% of Panthers reading 3 times a week, we can have a mini class party!

Have a great weekend. One week to go!

This week we wrote animal fact files, in preparation for our trip to Bristol Zoo! The children also wrote their own questions to ask the Zoo Keeper: "How do flamingos have babies?", "Why don't the daddy Lion's do the hunting?" were a couple of my favourites!

Maths

In Maths we have had more Marvellous Mathematicians as we continued to solve problems involving length and height. We also went on a scavenger hunt in our forest school area, testing our measuring skills.

Thank you for supporting Red Nose Day on Friday - the children looked amazing all dressed up in red with crazy hair, and had an awesome time Splashing the Teachers!

On Wednesday we were treated to an experience inside a Space Dome.
To quote Stan, "it was epic!"

Next Friday we have our trip to Bristol Zoo. Please make sure all consent forms are returned to the office or via ParentMail.

This week we focused on our story The Jungle Book, writing character descriptions, a story mountain to highlight the key events from beginning to end, before writing a full recount. We had some Incredible Writers using lots of adjectives and conjunctions!

English

This week we celebrated Shrove Tuesday and followed a recipe to cook our own Pancakes,  before writing our own recipe and recount of our learning! Yum! We also celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite story character - the teachers even dressed up as Jungle Book characters. Lots of giggles and money raised for a great cause.

Maths

In Maths we have had more Marvellous Mathematicians as we explored Division for the first time. Next week we will consolidate our learning of measuring length.

Have a great weekend. Please remember we have PE on Monday and everyone must come into school already dressed in PE kits. These kits must adhere to the school uniform (black shorts/joggers, white, blue or yellow top).

Friday 1st March 2019

English

This week we focused on writing instructions on 'How to plant cress seeds', following our own experiment in Topic. The children even used time openers, imperative verbs and adjectives independently! Next week we will be following a recipe to cook our own Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, before writing our own recipe and recount of our learning! Exciting times!

Maths

In Maths we have had more Marvellous Mathematicians as we focused on subtraction from 20, using different strategies - "draw it", using number lines and solving missing number problems by using the inverse calculation. This was quite tricky but we persevered and we are now super at subtraction! Next week we will be exploring Division for the first time. Please support your child with this at home by encouraging them to share into equal quantities (you can do this with their toys, food on their plate, drawings - I'm sure you'll think of other ways too!)
