Welcome to Year 2! - Tiger Class
Well, as you already know, our teacher in Tiger class is Miss Rammell and in the morning our teaching assistant is Mrs Knapp. Mrs Dunn and Mrs Lockwood are our reading assistants, who come in for an hour every afternoon to support children with their reading.
We are always very busy in our class as we have lots of fun learning to squeeze in! In the morning, we take part in Maths and English lessons and we also complete our Guided Reading and focus tasks. In the afternoons we have various creative activities such as; topic, PE, swimming, music, Religious Education and PSHE.
We are very lucky because we still get our afternoon play and free fruit! We take part in ‘Funky Friday Fitness' every week and sometimes get to lead it too.
Days to remember
For your information, we have Swimming on a Wednesday afternoon and PE on a Thursday afternoon with a sports coach – please remember your full PE kit as these are fun lessons to take part in! Please also remember that if your child wears earrings, they need to be taken out that morning before school (especially for swimming as tape is not allowed once in the swimming pool).
From the teacher: Miss Rammell
My name is Miss Rammell and I am lucky enough to be moving into Tiger Class with my previous class! This is very exciting as I already know the children well with regards to their interests, strengths and friendships etc and so, I feel that our Tiger team will be able to support their continued growth and development well.
I joined Barley Close January 2010 and I am very happy here! The children are lovely and the school has a great feel about it! Although I have really enjoyed teaching Year 3 and Year 1 previously, I am looking forward to moving into Year 2 as it is an age range that I love to work with.
I love teaching and working with children however, I also have lots of other interests! Outside of school, I like to; go shopping, read books, watch films and try to keep fit - although I much prefer eating food than working it off! However, I do enjoy going for walks, bike rides and playing badminton when I have some free time!
With my fiance, I enjoy forcing holidays onto him and so we try to go down to St Ives or any holiday abroad in the summer time. We enjoy going the beach, looking around the cobbled street shops and going for walks on the sand dunes - especially as there is a lovely café which serves bacon sandwiches and chunks of cake! We have also enjoyed "travelling" and went to South East Asia a few years ago. What an experience! Now that we are getting married in this academic year, I have suggested that we start saving for our next trip as a honeymoon is the perfect excuse! Wishful thinking perhaps? I also love going out with my friends on the weekend and having a good catch up as that is really important to me!
