Welcome to the Y3 - Crocodile page!
I am really enjoying my second year at Barley Close and am having great fun teaching my crocodiles in Year 3!
In Crocodile class we are lucky enough to have Mrs Jones our teaching assistant, who works with us every morning. Mr Edwards also works with us throughout the week.
Mrs Lacey is also part of Crocodile class as our reading assistant and comes in for an hour every afternoon to support children with their reading.
We are always very busy in our class as we have lots of exciting learning to squeeze in!
In the morning, we work in groups for English, Maths and Guided Reading, and also take part in interventions. Whilst in the afternoons we have various creative activities such as topic, PE, swimming, music, religious education, PSHE and Spanish!
Crocodile class is a very healthy class and we often take part in ‘Wake and Shake’to warm up our brains and bodies!
A great part of the week is when the whole school takes part in 'Funky Friday Fitness.'
Sometimes we get to lead this as a class!
Days to remember
For your information, we have PE on a Tuesday afternoon – please remember your full PE kit including outdoor footwear and suitable clothing, as these are fun lessons to take part in! This term our Swimming lessons will take place every Thursday morning. Please ensure you remember your swimming kit, a towel and also goggles if you have them as these will come in useful during activities in lessons.
Please also remember that if your child wears earrings, then they need to be taken out that morning before school (especially for swimming as tape is not allowed once in the swimming pool). Shoulder-length hair should also be tied up.
Please remember that children should have water bottles in school and are expected to bring their reading books and reading record to school every day.
•Spellings will be sent home every Friday. The children will copy these out into their own spelling books.
Children will have 1 week to learn their spellings, they will then be tested on these on the following Friday.
Please keep practising your Mighty Multiples facts at home! We will continue to learn these in school and also have our quizzes to see how much progress you are all making!
•Children should read at home as much as possible. Please listen to your child read aloud and lease don't forget to sign your child’s reading record.
Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your Easter break!
We certainly had the weather for it!
Our new topic this term will be a European country study...'Bella Italia!'
That's right, we will be studying and learning all about the beautiful country of Italy!
Our topic will focus mainly on Geography, History, Science and Art.
We will flearn all about the physical geography of Italy, including it's surrounding features such as: Mountains, volcanoes, oceans and seas.
We will study the food, culture and traditions of Italy, including their way of life nowadays and compare this to how they used to live thousands of years ago!
(We may even get to sample some delicious italian food! Yum!)
In Science we will focus on water transportation through plants but also the science behind the water cycle and we will be looking at the canal routes in Venice in particular.
We will be developing our paintbrush and colour mixing skills to paint our own portraits in the style of famous italian artists!
Well that's just a taster! What an exciting topic... I cannot wait! :)
If you have any books, pictures or other artefacts that would help with our work, we would be very pleased to borrow them to share with others!
Please remember to view our Creative Curriculum overview for Term 5, so you can see the range of other learning topics we will be exploring over the next 6 weeks!
A little bit about me...
When I am not at school, I love getting stuck into a good book and I really enjoy pottering around in my garden at home and growing lots of vegetables! I also love to bake- cupcakes are my speciality (and I love eating them!)
I enjoy singing, acting and dancing and I attend a local Amateur Dramatics society in South Bristol where I perform in a show every year!
I really enjoy exploring the great outdoors and quite often enjoy long walks in the countryside or a visit to the seaside!
Most of all, I am looking forward to a fantastic and memorable year teaching in Crocodile class!
