Welcome to Year 5
Our teachers are Mrs King (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) and Mrs Gransden (Wednesday and Thursday). We are also lucky to have Mrs Jones as our teaching assistant in the mornings. Mrs Spindler and Mrs Frost also work in our class.
We are going to kick start our learning in Year 5 with 'My City' a topic where we discover true city of Bristol and investigate well known historical figures such as John Cabot - What did he do? Why was he important?
Later on in the year we will find out about how our heart beats in our 'Heart of the matter' topic. Investigate where chocolate comes from and find out how it is made, we may even enter the 'Dragon's Den!'. On the way we will zoom through a Viking invasion and find out what happened to Britain after the Romans left.
PE this term is on ........
Swimming in term 1 is on .... afternoons.
Please make sure children have the appropriate kit in school for PE and swimming lessons. Earrings cannot be worn for physical activities and should be removed (children should be able to do this themselves). Shoulder-length hair should also be tied up.
Reading - Please help us at home with our reading. You should be reading at least 3x per week at home, ideally everyday! Don't forget to record in the yellow reading records. This should be in school every day! Below is a list of books that we have enjoyed, we would love to hear if you have enjoyed them too.
Mighty Multiples- We should also regularly revise number bonds, times tables and division facts up to 12 x 12, as this will help with our learning in Year 5. Why not have a go at some of the games below to help you?
