The Class Teacher in Panda class is Mrs Perry and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Lines. We are very lucky to have Mrs Collins as our Reading Assistant who works with us each afternoon.
Things to remember!
PE is on a Friday, but please have PE kit in school every day and this can be left on your child's peg and taken home at the end of each half term.
PE kit is a white T shirt, black shorts and daps.
Swimming is on a Thursday.
Swimming kit is a one piece swimming costume for girls and swimming trunks must be above the knee for boys.
All children need a pair of wellies which can stay in school (on our welly trolley) as we go outside in all weathers.
Please remember to label all of your children's clothes and shoes with their name (including PE and swimming kits).
From the Teacher: Mrs Perry
I am Claire Perry and am the teacher in Panda Class. This is my second year working at Barley Close, but many of you know me as my children have been at the school for some time. I have taught Reception classes in many schools in Bristol and Wiltshire, but am really happy to be now working at Barley Close.
When I am not in school, my four children keep me very busy and I spend most of my weekends at the side of a football pitch!
I am really looking forward to the coming year, we have lots of exciting things planned. I have met almost all of the new children and their families and know we are going to have lots of fun this year.
From the HLTA : Mrs Lines
Hello, I am Panda Class' HLTA, Sarah Lines. I have five children, all of whom have been to school here (one is still here), so I have been part of Barley Close for many years! I am currently the 'Friends of Barley Close' chair and a Parent Governor, so if you need to know anything I will do my best to help!
We have passed the half way point now and the children in panda class have grown up so much I can hardly recognise them! The children are reading with such confidence, they are making me very proud, thank you for all your help in this area.
Term 3 was as busy as ever, we learned a lot about space and dinosaurs and we were visited by aliens! All the children enjoyed these themes and we still have our space rocket role-play as it is so popular, I think we have a few budding astronauts!
Term 4 is only 5 weeks long, but seems to be one of the busiest in the school calendar. Monday 2nd March is the start of book week and all children (and staff) are to come dressed up as a book character. We will be doing lots of book based activities during book week and we have a little present for all the children at the end of the week.
Tuesday 3rd March at 2pm is our parents workshop; all Reception parents are invited to join us in the hall to see how your children learn to read and write at school. There will be lots of fun activities to take part in with your children and we hope all parents are able to come along.
We are starting term 4 by looking at the Chinese New Year, the children will learn all about the festival and eat noodles with chop sticks. Watch out for the dragon dancing through school on Friday!
As always, if you have any questions please come and see me at any time,
