Safer Internet Day 2021 - An Internet We Trust - Tuesday 9th Feb
With our children spending so much time online we though Safer Internet Day was important to celebrate with both children and parents at Barley Close.
There are a range of special events taking place and two we think are helpful are the live lesson on 9th Feb via the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/live-lessons/safer-internet-day-live-lesson/zdh2wnb
This website is also packed with other useful information and resources to help parents and children.
Own it, is amazing for KS2 parents and children, it has lots of information and is a great one to explore with your child and discuss any issues that you may face. https://www.bbc.com/ownit
We also have developed a virtual library that you can explore with your children, click on a book to find a great story focusing on how to be safe online. There is one for Reception and KS1 and one for KS2, both featuring great books to share and discuss staying safe on line.
Also attached is a copy of 2021's Digital Parenting magazine, which is a helpful resource and a nice easy read.
We hope you have a great time celebrating Safer Internet Day!

There are 5 chapters with questions and fun activities to complete.
We are sure when children are on their daily walk, bike ride or scooter ride they are discovering parts of the neighbourhood that they didn’t know before and perhaps different routes to get around. This can be a great opportunity for them to consider the way they travel, in particular the journey to and from school. With air quality better than it’s been in some time and roads quieter, it’s an opportunity to encourage them to form new habits and pledge to walk, ride or scoot for more of their journeys
