Next week we will continue our topic of It's a Small World as we begin to look into the geographical features of our local area, as well as continuing our letter writing to the Secret Giant in English, and revisiting multiplication and division in Maths. It's another busy week as lots of other really fun events are happening to!

Thursday 5th March - World Book Day - children to wear onesies or PJs and bring in their favourite book to share.

Enjoy your weekend,

Welcome back Tigers! I hope you all had a lovely half term break and are looking forward to our fourth term together. There are already so many fun things planned for this term.

As always, please keep an eye out on here, the school newsletter and the Tiger class parents’ noticeboard for updates and information about all of the events taking place this term.

Basketball Workshop -Monday 24th February

Please can send your child to school in their PE kits for a Basketball workshop on the first day back.

World Book Day -Thursday 5th March

We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March.

Your child can come to school dressed in their pyjamas or onesie and are able to bring in their favourite book to share.

Parents’ Evening

Parents’ evening will take place on Tuesday 10th March and Thursday 12th March. Sign-up sheets will be put on the classroom windows at some point during the first week back . If these dates are not convenient for you, please do let me know so I can arrange to meet with you at an alternative time.

Next week’s learning (24.02.20)

In English, we will be reading, 'Grandad's Secret Garden'. To begin this unit of work, we will discuss the order of events and make a list of all of the Giant's good deeds. Next, we will focus on our grammar/spelling skill (for this unit), apostrophes for contractions. The children will then write a short thank you paragraph to a friend applying our grammar/spelling skill. Then, we will look at 'What a Good One Looks Like' (WAGOLL) letter to the Giant from the town, thanking him for all of the good deeds he has done. We will also remind ourselves of the features of a letter and magpie the key vocabulary.

In Maths, our units for next week are shape and fractions. We will begin the week by look at symmetrical and asymmetric shapes. Next, we will explore the properties of 3D shapes. Then, we will move on to finding fractions of shapes and quantities.

Our topic for this term is ‘It's a Small World'. Over the course of the next 6 weeks, we will be learning about the UK, our local area and it's surroundings. We will going on a local walk and will be identifying different geographical features from our local surroundings. We will also be using the beebots to help us navigate our way around a fictional city and to record our own algorithms. Towards the end of the term, we will be getting creative and will be designing and making our very own Easter Eggs.

As always, we have so many different learning opportunities to look forward to this term that we can't wait to get started!
