Welcome to Year 4 - Chameleon Class
I am Mrs Capel and I feel very lucky to be teaching Year 4 this year as it's not only a year group I love, but also having taught this class for a short period at the end of their Year 2, I know we are going to have a fantastic time.
We are fortunate in Chameleon class to have 3 SEND TA's, Mrs Broadbent, Mr Edden-Jones and Mrs Spindler.
We are always very busy in our class as we have lots of fun learning to squeeze in! In the morning, we work in groups for English, Maths and Guided Reading, whilst in the afternoons we have various creative activities such as topic, PE and music. We are also lucky to have brass lessons on a Tuesday - don't forget your trombone!
We have ‘Wake and Shake’ and a great part of the week is 'Funky Friday Fitness' every week. Sometimes we get to lead that!
Days to remember
Please have PE kits in all week, including out door footwear and suitable clothing! We will be going out if possible this term and enjoy any nice weather we have. Our PE day is Wednesday but we do need kits in all week and we will be swimming on Monday.
Please also remember that if your child wears earrings, then your child will need to remove them themselves before PE (if for some reason, they can't be removed, they should be covered up before school).
Please also remember that children should have water bottles in school and bring their reading book and record every day.
I cannot quite believe it's Term 6 already. We are going to end the year as busy as ever and I am really looking forward to spending the term with the Chameleons.
The topic overview can be found below which provides full details. Our main topic will be coasts but we will be spending time working on D&T projects for the DT Fayre and working on materials within science.
This term parents are also invited into watch the children in their trombone lesson on the 16th June at 220pm. We really hope you can make it.
Also, please ensure we have full PE kits and water bottles in school. We are going to spend as much time as we can preparing for sports day and enjoying the outside weather.
Here's to a fabulous Term 6 and thank you for your help and support.
Well, I can't quite believe we are in Term 5. We have got a lot of exciting things to look forward to this term.
Our class trip to the Roman Baths - thank you to those who paid so promptly, it should be a great trip and don't forget our assembly on the Year 4 Camp!
Our curriculum overview can be found below which gives details of our learning for this term. I have also attached the spelling overview for the term as I am aware some children are struggling to remember to take their books home, so hopefully this will help.
Please don't forget that swimming starts again this term - we will start on Monday 20th April so please do remember costumes, towels and to remove ear-rings.
Thank you for your support.
Term 4 -
I hope you all had a wonderful half term and welcome back.
In Term 4 and 5, we will be learning all about Romans. This is something the children started in Year 3 so they already have a knowledge for us to build upon. We will be creating our own shields, writing our own Roman Chants, finding out more facts and information whilst pretending to be a Roman for the day in our diary writes.
In maths, we will be building upon our learning of the four operations and place value as well as spending a lot of time on fractions. Whilst in English, along with Roman Chants, we will spend time looking at a picture book, Flotsam, in Book Week along with writing a persuasive text.
Our termly overview can be seen in the attachments which features all of the details of our learning.
I am looking forward to another lovely term with Chameleon Class.
