Parent letter on Relationship, Sex and Health Education for Term 6

Iguana Class 2021-22

Welcome to the new Iguana Class! A little note from me below:

My name is Mrs Johnson and I am going to be your class teacher. We are going to have a fantastic year full of exciting stories, intriguing topics and energetic PE sessions.

Mrs Daniel will teach you every Monday and Mrs Harris will teach you every Friday afternoon. Miss Davies will be our class teaching assistant every morning.

I’ve been teaching for 8 years and my favourite part of teaching is sharing fantastic stories with you! You’ll be begging me not to stop when we read the story after lunch break each day.

I have lived in Bristol since I was born and love the city, especially all the festivals like the Balloon Fiesta and Harbour Festival. I have a very fluffy white cat named Poppy. She follows me around the house!

I am looking forward to settling you into Iguana Class. You might feel a little nervous about coming back to Barley Close after the summer or you might be super excited. Either way, remember that we’re all in this together and I am here to make sure you feel happy and safe so please let me know if you need anything.

So Iguana class, a few questions for you...

What are you looking forward to when starting Year 4? What are your hopes for the year ahead? Are you worried about anything? What do you like to do in your spare time?

Perhaps write me a letter and give it to me in September!

I cannot wait to see you all very soon! I’m sure you have been up to all sorts of exciting things over the holidays.

Take Care,

Mrs Johnson J

Important Information:

In Term 6 PE will be on MONDAYS and TUESDAYS so on these days please can children wear their plain school PE kit into school. Thank you.

We will collect in Reading Books and Reading Records every Friday so they can be changed if needed. Your child should be aiming to read at home 5 times a week. Only for 5/10minutes each time. From research, we know practicing little and often makes a huge difference. An adult should sign the reading record each time so we can reward fantastic home readers at school on Fridays.

On a Friday we also check my maths and TTRS. Children who have completed 25 minutes of TTRS and both My Maths activities will also be rewarded!
