Homework

Rationale
We at Barley Close Community Primary School believe that children should be encouraged to develop their independent learning skills at home as well as at school.

Why is homework important?

  • It raises your children’s achievement
  • It consolidates and extends the work they have done in school
  • It helps to inform you about your children’s school work and allows and gives you the opportunity to support this work
  • It is a valuable life skill and develops good work habits for secondary school and future employment.
  •

Maths

TTRS - Timestable Rockstars. Children in Years 2 - 6 are expected to spend at least 25 minutes a week on this.

MyMaths - Children in Years 1 and 2 will have at least one task set for them every week, whilst children in Years 3 - 6 will have at least two tasks set for them.

All children should have already brought home their log in details for both programmes - please talk to your child's teacher if they have been mislaid.

Additional work might be sent home if a child is on an additional intervention or needs some short term support with a specific area of the curriculum. Teachers will contact you directly to let you know how best to support in this situation.
