We are very lucky to have our own indoor swimming pool at Barley Close, and with our newly refurbished roof it is usually available to use from Easter to October half term.
When the pool is in action and swimming lessons are taking place, class teachers deliver lessons to focus on different skill sets depending on year group, as demonstrated in our Skills Progression Map. By the end of Year 6, we expect pupils to be able to:
· swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
· use a range of strokes effectively
· perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
