Calming My Body and MindBrains are useful for many things but not so great at helping you feel calm and safe – although they do try! Your brain might tell you, “You need to calm down!”, but it doesn’t really get rid of feelings of fear or stress inside the body. This Miniclip provides three different discreet techniques to help students calm their body and brain including the Japanese finger holding technique, rocking or wiggling the body, and squeezing and releasing parts of the body.
Finding FeelingsSometimes it’s hard to find the words to describe how we’re feeling. Feelings are meant to move like blobs of energy, but if you don’t express your feelings it can cause them to get stuck inside you and make you hurt or feel unwell. This Miniclip will help to identify your feelings, understand what they feel like when you experience them, and provide some simple phrases to help communicate how you’re feeling to people around you.
Calm BreathingBreathing not only keeps us alive – it’s also great for helping our body and brain do different things, like calming down or getting ready for action. This Miniclip introduces the three main areas in our body that breathing works with and offers useful breathing strategies to practise mindfulness.
