Term 3

Week 1

Week 1 has been wonderful. We have been revisiting place value this week in our Math lessons. In our English we have been focusing on writing character descriptions based on C.S.Lewis' The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

I have set MyMaths for the next week focusing on our place value. It would also be of great benefit if your children could access Times Table RockStars a few times a week (for small snippets of 5-10 minutes). This will really accelerate their fluency.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Mr Keeping

Week 2

Week 2 has been great. We have looked further into the Romans and why they invaded Britain looking at all the resources that the Romans took. We have also completed out end of unit writes in English and the children have wrote some wonderful character descriptions about Lucy, the White Witch and Mr Tumnus. We are looking forward to lots more learning and fun over the next few weeks!!

Week 3

This week had been a busy one. We have started to look at inverted commas in English to use around our speech. We have been looking at the first interaction between Lucy and Mr Tumnus and the children have wrote some amazing short burst writes. In our history we have looked at the Roman Empire this week and discovered why it was one of the most effective fighting forces in history. In science we looked at how switches are used in a circuit to break the flow of electricity. We built lots of different circuits looking at how different switches had different effects. Such as dimmer switches changing how much electricity was use, push switches shutting off the power supply when held and flick switches that can be used to turn off a power supply.

Week 4

The term has flown by and now we are over half way done with Term 3. This week in our reading fluency and Monday assembly we talked about Martin Luther King Jr and how he impacted the world. We looked at our famous historical figure for the term - Boudicca. We looked at how she fought the Romans after they took her land. In science we built on our circuits looking at the purpose of conductor.

Week 5

Week 5 has been wonderful. This week we have been lucky to have a session with the University of the West of England on green futures. The children all really enjoyed this session. In our computing lesson we briefly looked into internet safety before safer internet week in week 6. This week we have also been lucky to discuss lots about mental health with it being Children's Mental health week. We look forward to seeing what week 6 brings.

Week 6

My first term teaching Chameleons has been a blast! It has been wonderful to see how hard all the children have been working and the progress they have made over the term. I have popped the overview for next term onto the class page so if anyone would like a sneak peak at what we will be learning take a look.

I can't wait to see what next term brings with events such as World Book Day and visits from Bristol Water.

I hope everyone enjoys their week off and has a well deserved rest.

All the best,

Mr J Keeping
