Hello! I am delighted to be joining the Barley Close school community.

I have recently graduated from my PGCE and previously completed a degree in Special Educational Needs, Disability and Inclusion. I have had the pleasure of being part of the Barley Close community before, having completed my work experience at the school in 2024. During my PGCE, I gained experience teaching across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, which has been a fantastic opportunity to develop my teaching experience and learn from lots of wonderful children.

One of my favourite things about Barley Close is watching children make progress in their own individual ways. Every child is different, and I love seeing them grow in confidence, become more independent and develop new skills along the way. I am really looking forward to being part of such a lovely school community and getting to know you, the children and families, as well as getting involved in all the exciting school events throughout the year.

Outside of school, I have an 8-year-old West Highland Terrier who keeps me very busy! I also have my own home, where I enjoy baking cakes and cooking fantastic meals. I love spending time with my family and friends, whether that's going for a walk, enjoying some delicious food or heading off on a family holiday.

In my spare time (not that I have much of that, hey?!), I am a cheerleading coach and have been a cheerleader for the past 20 years. I absolutely love being involved in the sport and helping others develop their confidence and skills.

And finally, I have a massive love for Nutella biscuits and Haribo’s!

I am so excited for the year ahead and can't wait to get to know everyone. It's going to be a great one!

 

General Information

We are committed to supporting your children, and we kindly ask that you also support them in the following ways:

• Please ensure they are wearing the correct uniform. They only need to wear PE kit on a Tuesday and a Friday for Term 1.
• Reading records and books need to be in school every day. Your child needs to read 5x a week at home, and you will need to sign their reading record. 
• Spellings will be set and tested every Friday. Your child will have a spelling book that they need to bring home each day. Please support them in learning these for the weekly test.
• My Maths homework will be set weekly.
• TTRS runs every week and your child needs to spend 25 minutes a week on this.

In Term 1, our PE days are a Tuesday and Friday. 

Please can you ensure children come in wearing their plain school PE kit with suitable footwear for those days. Please also ensure any earrings are removed for these days so that your child can participate. Please also note that sadly, crocs (or anything similar) are not suitable, safe footwear.

Extra Things to Know

TT Rock Stars / My Maths

The above online learning platforms will be reactivated in September. Your child will bring home log-in details for each account so that they can access these at home. If any get mislaid, please contact us so that we can provide these details again.

 

Snacks / Water bottles

You will need to send your child in with a bottle of water every day. Please make sure that the bottle is named, as children often bring in the same type of bottle as their peers. A water bottle also helps to prevent the spread of germs and bugs by avoiding using cups in the classroom. You are welcome to provide your child with a daily snack too.

 

Weather Conditions

Please remember to provide your child with a coat on days it is needed and also a hat if we happen to have a hot, sunny day. Please also apply sun cream to your child before arriving at school when necessary.
