  • M32 closures

    Tue 10 May 2016
There will be some closures on the M32 between junctions 1 and 3 from 8pm on Friday June 10 until 6am on Monday June 13.
The closures will allow a new bridge to be put in place over the motorway for the MetroBus bus-only junction and required to carry out this work safely.
Alternative routes in and out of Bristol will be clearly signposted during the closures.
Route diversions are being managed by Highways England who are working with Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset councils.
Traffic will be advised of the closures prior to junctions 18 and 16 of the M5. On the M4 traffic will be advised to come off at the junction 18 to access south and east Bristol.
Bristol City Council, South Gloucestershire Council and MetroBus have worked with Highways England to minimise disruption resulting from this work so that it can be delivered as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Highways England will be using the closures to undertake survey work at Eastville viaduct to reduce the need for future closures.
    Contingency closure
A further provisional closure is planned between 24 and 27 June as a contingency should the planned works not take place during the original road closures due to poor weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
    Information for motorists
All closures will be publicised via Highways England’s website. Diversion routes will be clearly signed.
We will be undertaking an extensive campaign to engage with road users, stakeholders and affected members of the local community and will ensure local media is kept updated.
