We are lucky enough to have an above ground Swimming Pool at Barley Close Community Primary School. Unfortunately, it is in a building that is not insulated and therefore can only be used over the warmer months. It also does not have any toilet facilities.
On Friday 16th November we will be supporting Children in Need. We are asking all children to come to school wearing non-uniform, something spotty or anything Pudsey and make a voluntary contribution of £1. Each class will also be doing a fun activity that has been arranged by school council: Nursery - sweets in a jar, Reception-Pudsey games and biscuits, Year 1 - Danceathon, Year 2 - Running challenge, Year 3 - Talent show, Year 4 - Danceathon, Year 5 - Football or Running Challenge, Year 6 - Giant Hide and Seek and Dodgeball.
Thank you for supporting us to raise money for this excellent cause.
A weekend of Remembrance
The community of Mangotsfield would like to spend time reflecting and remembering those that gave their lives during WW1. St. James Church have invited local schools and groups to contribute displays for the Church which will be open to the public on Saturday 10th November 10am – 4pm. Refreshments will be served all day and there will be craft activities for children to enjoy.
On Sunday 11th November there will be a service in the Church at 10.30am and at the War Memorial at 12.30pm. Also on Sunday 11th November at 6.30pm, there will be a Beacon lit at Pomphrey Hill Sports Ground to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War and this event is being arranged by Emersons Green Council and the Royal British Legion with singing from the Military Wives Choir.
Should you have any memorabilia that could be displayed in the Church for this event or would like to knit poppies to decorate the church then please contact Sally Sibley, School-Community Link Worker 07733256372 email: sallys@bristoldiocese.org

We had a visit from Google on the 26th September who entertained years 3 – 6 with an assembly about how to be smart and responsible in the online world. The children loved in and the Google team have been in touch with lots of praise about their visit to our school.
If the children would like to follow up on the messages learnt they can visit the website below to play games and learn more about being a Legend!

Another really useful site for parents is below, it is information on what the games, apps, platforms your children might use. It gives clear advice on the risks there might be and explains the ideas behind each site so you can stay informed and support your children to enjoy the internet and online world.
