  Lion TV is now casting talented young chefs and aspiring restaurant bosses in years 5-9 to compete in a BRAND NEW series:
  THE RESTAURANT DREAM TEAM
  We are on the hunt to find a DREAM TEAM of six kids who will be able to run their very own restaurant.
  We are looking for mixed groups of boys and girls. Three of the group members will be working on the restaurant floor, coming up with a restaurant theme, welcoming and serving guests, as well as dealing with customer complaints. The other three members will be creating their own menu and cooking to a high standard, under pressure, whilst remaining calm.
  Do you have the charisma and confidence to charm a whole host of hungry diners and run a team? Are you bursting with foodie ideas? Or do you think you can cook better than most adults?
  If so, we would love to hear from you and your mates who may have what it takes to become the winning Restaurant Dream Team!

• Christmas Panto

  The children were all treated to a Pantomime performance in school yesterday. It was full of laughs and panto gags. A HUGE THANK YOU to FOBC and everyone who has supported the FOBC events this year as your contributions paid for this Christmas treat.

• End of Christmas term fun!

  15 school days left of term 2 and so much going on...

   

  6/12- Year 4 Ukulele concert 2;30pm

   

  7/12- non uniform in return for elf shelf donations

  year 4 cake sale 3;15 and Christmas Fayre 5-7pm

   

  10/12- elf shelf, children to bring in money to spend on presents during the afternoon

   

  11/12- EYFS and KS1 Christmas performance 2:15 and 6pm

   

  12/12- Christmas dinner day!

   

  14/12- wear your Christmas jumper day and art exhibition

   

  18/12- dress like an elf in exchange for £1 and cake sale for Bristol Children's hospital

   

  21/12- We have all been invited to a Christmas party at Gracefields Old Peoples home in Downend. Parents will need to take their child and will need to be collected from school early.

• Chess Club

  Mr Craig was really proud of the pupils who entered the chess friendly last night.

  Ollie, Courtney, Izzy, Phoebe, Ben, Rachel, Alisha, Gennie, Archie, Elisa and Josiah.

   

  It was mixed teams from both schools so that it was Team A vs B rather than Barley Close vs Emerson Green, and although they had some great players we had some individual victories. Barley Close conducted themselves in a really polite and grown up manner, which was lovely to see.

• Reading Volunteers Needed

  Reading Volunteers Needed

  Do you have an hour spare each week when you could come into school to listen to children read?

  We are looking to set up a Reading Buddy programme where volunteers would come into school for an hour each week to listen to children of all ages read.

  If you are interested please come for a coffee, biscuit and informal meeting with Mrs Daniel on Wednesday 16^th January at 2pm

The Council would like to hear your views so if you haven't yet responded you can do so on line at the following link https://consultations.southglos.gov.uk/consult.ti/SchSENDBudget and have until the 25 November 2018 to respond.
