Winter vomiting virus

Norovirus is circulating in South Gloucestershire. Whilst levels are no higher than usual for this time of year we're seeing outbreaks particularly affecting schools. Norovirus, also called the "winter vomiting bug", is a stomach bug that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It can be very unpleasant and is highly contagious. bit.ly/norovirusSW

Good hand hygiene is the best way to stop norovirus and give you and your loved ones the chance of a healthy Christmas this year. Washing your hands frequently with soap and water is the best way to stop it spreading. Alcohol hand gels do not kill norovirus.

From the Public Health and Wellbeing Division, we wish you a healthy Christmas and a Noro-free New Year! And don’t forget, good hand hygiene is for life, not just for Christmas… #NoNoro4Xmas
