The Alligators have had brilliant fun during Science Week!!

On Monday we were very lucky to take part in some fun science workshops where we blew up balloons from gas created by mixing vinegar with carbonate soda.

The children very much enjoyed using microscopes with Mrs Norman.

On Thursday we were very lucky to part of a STEM building blocks activity. The Alligators very much enjoyed knocking down all the blocks at the end of the school day.

Friday 5th July 2024

This week has been delightful in Alligator Class.

Although it has been assessment week, the Alligators love to apply themselves and show what they are capable. They have all given 110% and I could not be more proud of them!!

In our DT sessions this week as part of our Cooking and Nutrition studies we made a Greek Salad. Here we looked at how we can eat healthy, what ingredients come from all over the world and how we can prepare food safely.

After preparing our salad all children very much enjoyed trying and evaluating their efforts!

This week it was also our ukulele performance to the whole school and parents/carers. Although the children were nervous at the beginning they all shone and were beaming with pride afterwards. Thank you to all of you who made it to watch.

Friday 28th June

As always, we have had a fantastic week in Alligator Class.

This week in English we have been writing fictional stories as the Prime Minister. Here the Alligator's have revisited story mapping and writing in paragraphs. They very much enjoy getting into character and this week they have made new laws about making longer weekends, banning video games and closing down shops.

In maths this week we revisited adding money and giving change. Many Alligators got on to our 'prove it' activity and showed great determination.

In PE this week we enjoyed getting outside and 'attempting' to play badminton. The wind was against us at many points, but as always the Alligators never gave up.

In our music lessons this week we had our last dress rehearsal for our Ukulele performance next week. We hope you can make it, 9.30am on Thursday.

Congratulations to the following pupils:

Marvellous Mathematician: Kaylah

Friday 21st June

This week in an Alligator Class, we have all been superstars!

In our English lessons this week we have been writing our very own Prime Minister as the Prime Minister. Here we have been getting people to vote for us by promising things such as cheaper holidays, non-school uniform days and longer weekends. Our grammar skill this week has been language features in fiction writing. Here the children have learnt how to use alliteration, hyperbole and similes.

In our maths lessons we revisited angles and turns, horizontal and vertical lines. We also revisited parallel and perpendicular lines. Here we looked at lines and angles within shapes, as well as drawing some lines of our own.

For all of us attending the Summer Fayre on Sunday, we are all very excited!! In our assemblies this week we have been practicing our singing and cannot wait to sing to everyone at the event. We hope many of you can make it!

Congratulations to the following pupils:

Pupil of the Week: Sharmane

Marvellous Mathematician: Mace

Raffle ticket winners: Willow, Yashika and Phoebe

Friday 14th June 2024

Where has the summer gone? Despite the rain this week we have had an excellent week in Alligator Class.

In English this week our children have produced some fantastic pieces of writing in their End of Unit Writes. The Alligators wrote a persuasive letter to the Prime Minister asking him to make a change. Some asked for him to stop plastic pollution, others were passionate about deforestation and the homeless, whilst some children asked for Disneyland to be made cheaper. They were very persuasive I must say!

In Maths we finished our unit on time where the Alligators ended with calculating time durations, which was not easy but they showed great perseverance.

In science we recapped our learning from a previous unit in the year all about nutrition and what our body needs to consume to keep us fit and healthy.

In PE we enjoyed taking part in target practice and shot put throwing on Monday, Luckily for us all, we used beanbags instead of shotputs. Then in today's PE lesson we began looking at ball skills, beginning with tennis. Well done Alligators for having a super week!

Friday 7th June 2024

We have had a brilliant first week back in Alligator Class.

This week in our English lessons we have began to look at persuasive writing techniques. In our reading lessons we read a persuasive text about deforestation where we learnt about using hyperbole within our writing and recapped the use of rhetorical questions. Our grammar skill this week is using expanded noun phrases, which all the children have enjoyed. The Alligators are very talented at writing about things they are passionate about, so I am looking forward to seeing what next week brings!!

In maths we have started our recap unit on learning how to tell the time. Here we have revisited telling the time on an analogue clock, to the hour and past the hour. We have now moved on to look at digital time and looking at time duration. This has been a difficult unit, but the Alligators have shown great perseverance, they never give up.

I could have not been prouder of everyone this week taking part in sports day, you were all superstars!!! Thank you so much for your support all parents and carers :)

Congratulations to the following pupils:

Pupil of the Week: Piper

Marvellous Mathematician: Dolly

Raffle ticket winners: Sharmane, Harry and Phoebe
