We had a very busy term 2 in Elephant class! In PE we have been lucky enough to have a 5 week course with Danny from Bristol Rovers. This is called the joy of moving. It has taught us all about healthy eating, different types of exercise, meal planning and the importance of hydration.
In music this term we have been learning about blues music - how and when it started and even learnt how to play a chord on the glockenspiels! In Geography we have covered the topic North America. We have learnt which countries make up North America, all about extreme weather and the states. In English we were reading the Snow Spider by Jenny Nimmo, we have written a setting description using expanded noun phrases and a diary entry using subordinate clauses. The writing in this class is of outstanding quality! They are always looking to improve their work.
In maths we have covered: decimals, long multiplication and place value. In science we were learning all about forces. We have covered: friction, air resistance, water resistance and pulleys. We have done some great hands on practical experiments. In DT we are going to spend a morning making cranes strong enough to lift a cup of popcorn!
This term we have also been lucky enough to have a visit from the Dogs Trust, we watched the KS1 Nativity and we had Cinderella the panto come to school! Back in November we had an all day science workshop where we created rockets and tested which ones flew the best.
During test week, I was so impressed with the children's resilience! They are some of the best results I have seen!
I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas holidays and gets some rest!
